1 November 2019 BRPL wins coveted ICC awards
BRPL has received two-coveted awards instituted by the ICC. It has been ranked 1st in the category "Green Energy Award" for promoting green & clean energy & ranked 2nd in overall innovation with impact in overall performance. The awards were received by BRPL CEO Amal Sinha. These awards were given as part of the 7th Innovation with Impact Awards for Discoms 2019 during the 13th India Energy Summit, organised by the Indian Chambers of Commerce. There were a total of 31 discoms, of which 9 were private. The winners were selected by an eminent jury, which included industry heavy weights . 		Click Here
2 November 2019 BRPL & Oracle Utilities organise the 2nd Behavioural Energy Efficiency Pilot Stakeholder Workshop
BRPL & Oracle Utilities organised the 2nd stakeholder workshop on November 11, 2019, to discuss the findings of Behavioural Energy Efficiency pilot. It was addressed by the DERC Chairman Hon’ble Justice S S Chauhan & eminent speakers from USTDA, Oracle Utilities & BSES. BRPL CEO Mr Amal Sinha also addressed the gathering.
A panel discussed was also organised to discuss the derived outcomes & relevance of behavioural demand side management and national smart grid mission by eminent speakers from BRPL, USTDA, TERI, Prayas Energy Group, Shakti Foundation, AEEE, Institute for Sustainable Communities & Idam Infra Advisory Ltd.
Covering 2 lakh consumers in South and West Delhi, this is the 1st large-scale BEE pilot project in India. Being carried under the US $ 1 million grant from USTDA, it is helping the participants reduce their monthly electricity bills. 		Click Here
3 November 2019 BRPL to install a Water ATM in Shakur Basti in West Delhi
In partnership with the Delhi Jal Board, BRPL is installing a water ATM in West Delhi. An MoU has been signed by Mr. Amal Sinha, CEO, BRPL & DJB CEO, Mr. Nikhil Kumar, IAS. Senior DJB officials Mr. Shalabh Kumar & Mr. Mukesh Kumar, IAS, were also present. To be launched soon, the water ATM will provide 1500 households, 20 litres of purified drinking water daily. 1 October 2019 BRPL’s CSR outreach activities continued to reach-out to the targeted communities during October as-well. Apart from distribution of books, tobacco de-addiction camps, energy conservation programs and renovation of toilets in government schools, highlight of the month was the signing a MoU for installation of a water ATM in Shakur Basti in West Delhi. 2 October 2019 BRPL partners Xcel Energy, a $ 27 billion US energy giant
BRPL & Xcel Energy, a $ 27 billion US energy giant, have signed an agreement that allows them to share knowledge in the areas of RE integration, energy storage, distributed energy resources, electric vehicles & distribution grid modernization? It was signed in the presence of Colorado governor Mr Jared Polis on Nov 4. This has been made possible through joint efforts of the two utilities & facilitated by CSIS and US India Business Council. 		Click Here
3 October 2019 BRPL partners Norway’s Kongsberg Digital
BRPL & Kongsberg Digital, a Norwegian company, have entered into an agreement for smart grid collaboration. It will explore digital solutions to further optimise the discom’s grid operations. It was signed at the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Delhi, in presence of the Norwegian Ambassador to India, His Excellency Mr Hans Jacob Frydenlund and BRPL CEO, Mr Amal Sinha & senior officials. 1 September 2019 Living –up to their mission, BRPL’ CSR programs continue to reach-out to the under privileged and the targeted sections of the society. 1 August 2019 Olympian Karnam Malleswari motivates Bijli Digi Seva Kendra colleagues
A day-long training and motivational session “Trailblazer” was organised for the colleagues of BRPL’ Bijli Digi Seva Kendras (DSK) at Hotel The Grand, Vasant Kunj. Besides a well-known neuro linguistic programming (NLP) expert, the gathering was addressed by Olympian Karnam Malesawari, who as most of you may know, is the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Olympics. 1 July 2019 Delhi’s Power Minister Inaugurates Digi Seva Kendra@Paschim Vihar
Delhi’s Hon’ble Power Minister Shri Satyendar Jain inaugurated BRPL’ Digi Seva Kendra (DSK) at Paschim Vihar over the weekend. The honours were done in the presence of the Hon’ble MLAs Shri Raghuvinder Shokeen, Shri Girish Soni, Shri Sukhbir Singh Dalal, Shri Shiv Charan Goel and BRPL officials led by the CEO Shri Amal Sinha.
Modelled on the lines of Passport Seva Kendras, these DSK’s offer quick, convenient and hassle-free single window digital services to consumers. The DSK at Paschim Vihar will cater to over five lakh consumers across Punjabi Bagh, Nangloi and Mundka. 		Click Here

3 June 2019 BRPL’ CSR activities continue to positively impact the various sections of our society. During June, these activities further built on the momentum achieved in the previous months. 1 May 2019 During the month of May, a lot of focus was imparted to women at the 30 Adult Literacy Centres (ALC) being run by BRPL under its CSR program. Apart from the regular classes, several awareness sessions were also organised at these ALCs on sexual harassment, sexual abuse of children, women’s hygiene and material mortality rate. Click Here

1 April 2019 CSR activities during FY 2018-2019 reached out to and positively impacted the lives of over 1.3 lakh residents and their family members in the targeted area of Nangloi, Najafgarh, Jaffarpur, Okhla and Mundka under five broad categories. 1 February 2019 UI ASSIST team visits BSES
Prof Noel Schulz, project lead (USA) of UI ASSIST, an international consortium, comprising BRPL and TERI, visited BRPL offices in Delhi and interacted with the senior leadership team led by the CEO Mr Amal Sinha. The consortium is working on sustainable technologies and smart distribution systems including battery storage. 		Click Here
2 February 2019 Delegation from Japan’s TEPCO and NEDO visit BSES
A delegation from Japan’s TEPCO (Tokyo electric power company) and NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation) visited BRPL’ SCADA Control Centre and interacted with BSES’ team led by the CEO Mr Amal Sinha. Among others, the discussions centred around the study of Virtual Power Plants, Electric Vehicles, Battery Storage , Distribution System Automation and System Operations and Challenges. 		Click Here
3 February 2019 Project report of Energy Wise, Energy Rise’ program released
The 1st phase of Energy Wise, Energy Rise’ program (EWER), a unique environmental education program, run by BRPL in partnership with TERI concluded and the project report released recently by Mr Manish Sisodia (Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Delhi). Best performing schools were also felicitated. In the 1st phase, EWER program covered 30000 students in 100 govt schools in South and West Delhi. 4 February 2019 BRPL-EESL Join Hands to Launch ‘Energy Efficient Appliance Program’
With an objective to promote energy efficient technologies and appliances, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) have entered into a strategic partnership to launch a 12-month pilot - ‘Energy Efficient Appliance Program’. A first of its kind program in India, it will cover over 25 lakh residential and institutional consumers in South and West Delhi. Through this program, BRPL consumers would be able to procure several optimally priced energy efficient appliances, including the super efficient air conditioners. 		Click Here

BRPL’ quest to continuously improve and live upto the increasing consumer expectations depends on regular engagement and valuable feedback from its consumers. As part of this quest, the annual Utkrisht Sahabhagi Meet 2018-19 was organised on December 21, 2018 with the theme of “Engage. Collaborate. 3 December 2018 BRPL in association with DSLSA organises a two-day Lok Adalat
BRPL in association with Delhi State Legal Services Authority organised a two-day Special Lok Adalat on December 8 and 9, 2018 for consumers residing in South and West Delhi. It amicably and on-the-spot settled over 2600 power theft cases with a value of over Rs 32 crore. 		Click Here

2 October 2018 Delhi Power Minister Inaugurates Next Phase of BSES Solar City Initiative – ‘Solarise Shakur Basti’
After the spectacular success of BRPL’ Solar City Initiative – ‘Solarise Dwarka’, which has seen around 100 apartment complexes in Dwarka showing interest and signing-up for the initiative, the discom launched Phase two of the program. The phase two – ‘Solarise Shakur Basti’ was launched by Delhi’s Hon’ble Power Minister Mr Satyendar Jain on August 28, 2018. 1 August 2018 As part of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited’ “Solar City Initiative – Solarise Dwarka”, grid connected rooftop solar plants of 506 KW were energised on August 4, 2018 in seven cooperative group housing societies (CGHS) in Dwarka, benefiting over 700 flats. Moreover, with the energisation of these solar plants, including the ones that will be energised soon, the total installed grid-connected solar roof top capacity in Dwarka CGHS has crossed 1000 KW or 1 MW across more than 14 societies. 2 August 2018 After planting over 5000 trees in July, we planted nearly 6000 trees in August. 2 June 2018 Delhi Chief Minister inaugurates BRPL’ Grid in Fatehpur Beri
After hoisting the national flag, Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, inaugurated BRPL’ 66/11 KV – 50 MVA Grid Sub Station at Fatehpur Beri in South Delhi in the august presence of Delhi’s Hon’ble Power Minister, Shri Satyendar Jain and Hon’ble MLA Shri Kartar Singh. 3 June 2018 Delhi Chief Minister hoists national flag at BSES Office
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal visited BRPL’ Head Office at Nehru Place on June 10, 2018, and unfurled the national flag atop the 35 meter high flag mast erected at the premises. Subsequently, the Hon’ble Chief Minister visited Bijli Digi Seva Kendra, situated in the same premises. Delhi’s Hon’ble Power Minister, Shri Satyendar Jain and Hon’ble MLAs Hon’ble Shri Avtar Singh, Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj, Shri Sahi Ram, Shri Madan Lal and Shri Praveen Kumar were also present. 2 May 2018 BSES Solar City Initiative: Dwarka CGHS Energises a 100 KW Roof-Top Solar Plant
As part of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited’ ambitious 'Solar City Initiative - Solarise Dwarka’, the first 100 KW grid-connected rooftop solar plant was inaugurated at the Shiv Bhole Cooperative Group Housing Society in Dwarka. By doing so, the residential society has set an example not only for the roughly 250 housing societies in this sub-city, but also for the entire national capital. The plant was inaugurated by Dr Wolfram Klein – Head of Division India; South Asia German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Developmen in presence of Mr. Amal Sinha, CEO-BRPL. Dr Klein is visiting India on the occasion of annual Indo-German bilateral consultations. Others present on the occasion included Ms Susanne Dorasil (Head of Economic Cooperation and Development, German Embassy, New Delhi), senior officials from BMZ, GIZ and residents from the CGHS. 1 April 2018 Delegation from International Solar Alliance (ISA) visits BRPL’ SCADA Centre
A delegation of 15 global participants from the International Solar Alliance(ISA) partner nations visited BRPL's SCADA control center at Balaji, Nehru Place ( New Delhi) and witnessed the system Delegation from International Solar Alliance (ISA) visits BRPL’ SCADA Centre control and power scheduling activities. Spread across Asia- Pacific, Africa, Europe and Australia, the participants came from many nations, including Cambodia, Uganda, Guyana, Malawi, Ghana, Fizi, Burundi, Gabon, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Costa Rica, Seychelles, France and Australia. 2 April 2018 BSES and TERI partner to educate 90,000 students
BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) have joined hands to launch an innovative educational program on energy conservation.BSES and TERI partner to educate 90,000 students Aimed at young minds and titled, ‘Energy Wise Energy Rise’, the program will educate, train and reach out to around 90,000 students in government schools. A three year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the two organisations to the effect.
3 April 2018 BRPL & EESL partner to work in the areas of EV charging stations, rooftop solar and smart meters
BRPL & EESL have signed a MOU to work in the areas of smart & emerging technologies. It will enable BRPL to introduce newer offerings for its BRPL & EESL partner to work in the areas of EV charging stations, rooftop solar and smart meters consumers like setting-up of E Vehicle charging infrastructure, solar irrigation pump, roof top solar and smart meters. The MoU was signed by BRPL CEO Mr Amal Sinha and Mr Saurabh Kumar MD EESL in the presence of special invitee Mr Gavin McGillivray, Minister Counsellor Development and Head DFID India, British High Commission. 4 April 2018 BRPL partners EESL to distribute LEDs in rural areas
BRPL and EESL have partnered to distribute LED bulbs in the rural areas of South and West Delhi as part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan initiative. The campaign was flagged off by the BRPL CEO Mr Sinha today from BRPL partners EESL to distribute LEDs in rural areas discom’s Nehru Place office. Under the limited period scheme, LED bulbs will be made available till May 5, 2018, at a special price of Rs 50 in the rural areas and villages. 		Click Here

1 March 2018 BSES discoms ink agreement to procure 200 MW of wind power
BSES Rajdjani Power Limited (BRPL) has been championing the cause of renewal energy. In continuation of this commitment,BSES discoms ink agreement to procure 200 MW of wind power BRPL has signed a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) with SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India) to procure 150 MW of wind power. The power is expected be available to BSES discoms in about 18 months from now - from the third week of November, 2019, for a period of 25 years. 		Click Here
2 March 2018 BRPL to get $ 1 million grant from US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to promote energy conservation
BSES has been at the forefront of promoting energy conservation. Recognising these efforts, US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has signed a grant ($ 1,021, 896) supporting BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) to develop and deploy India’s first Behavioural Energy Efficiency (BEE) program. Under the pioneering initiative, Oracle America Inc (Redwood Shores, CA) will carry-out the pilot project covering 2 lakh customers in South and West Delhi using Oracle Utilities’ Opower customer engagement software.BRPL to get $ 1 million grant from US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to promote energy conservation
3 March 2018 With several activities taking place simultaneously, March was also a busy month from the CSR perspective, in which lives of around 2000 people were positively impacted. 2 January 2018 BRPL Solar City
Initiative BRPL launched the rooftop program which is India's 1st “utility anchored rooftop program” in residential sector being hosted by a power distribution company in India. Through this program, BRPL plans to create a platform to catalogue and aggregate all interested rooftop consumers in its distribution jurisdiction, starting with single point delivery consumers in Dwarka and the solar rooftop vendors / integrators who are empanelled by IPGCL, GoNCTD / SECI/ MNRE. BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) is partnering schools for its recently launched " Energy Program 2014", a novel initiative that seeks to promote essential messages to Delhiites. Under the initiative messages related to energy conservation, electrical safety and menace of power theft was shared among the students of partner schools. These students in-turn will help in spreading the messages among their families, friends and in their neighbourhood.

1 2014-12-08 BRPL trains over 250 electricians

BRPL organised two electrician training programs in Vasant Kunj and Tilak Nagar on December 8 and 12, 2014, respectively. Over 250 electricians attended these programs.

The key objective of this training program was to train and educate neighbourhood electricians, especially those nominated by RWAs. Besides conventional issues relating to Internal house wiring, Electrical safety, Prevention of short circuits and electrical fires and Importance of installing Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers (ELCB’s), they were also educated on Energy conserving appliances, LES, Helping Consumers in reducing electricity bills, Roof top solar installations, Net metering, TOD and Consumer portal, among others.

2 2014-12-23 BRPL organises Medical Camps in South and West Delhi

BRPL organized a “Free eye camp” at Village Madanpur Khadar in the Sarita Vihar Divison on 23 December 2014, in association with ICARE Eye Hospital, Noida. Nearly 200 residents benefited from the eye camps. Free Spectacles and medicines were given to needy patients. 		Click Here

1 2014-04-23 BSES wins the D L Shah Quality Award

BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) have been conferred the prestigious DL Shah Quality Awards 2014, organized by Quality Council of India.

While BRPL was conferred the award for 'Quality Excellence in reduction of HT switchgear failure', BYPL won a commendation in 'Quality Excellence for MIDAS (Modular Integrated Distribution Automated system).

BRPL also won the appreciation Award for 'Effective and Efficient Power Distribution Power Distribution Network Operations through SCADA' The awards were given during the Annual National Quality Conclave, organized in Delhi on April 23, 2014 		Click Here

1 2013-09-04 BRPL awarded Greentech Safety Award 2013

BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) has been awarded the prestigious ‘Greentech Safety Award 2013’ in the Gold Category. The company bagged the award in the public utility service space. Mr Anil Kumar, Addl. Vice President and Head (QC & Safety) and Mr C.K.Sood, Addl.Vice President (O&M, South) received the award on behalf of the company. 1 2013-02-14 Delhi Power Minister inaugurates BRPL’ next gen unmanned 66/11 KV Grid

Power Minister for Delhi Haroon Yusuf, inaugurated BSES Rajdhani Power Limited’ (BRPL) 66/11 KV – 50 MVA Grid sub station in Raghubir Nagar in West Delhi. The Grid sub station, constructed within the premises of the Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, will further improve the power supply for over one lakh residents in areas like Rajouri Garden, Tagore Garden, Vishnu Garden, Shyam Nagar, Khayala, Raghubir Nagar, Vishal Enclave and Janta Colony with immediate affect. 2 2013-02-01 Delhi CM lays the foundation for Rs 26crore plan for South Delhi

BRPL laid the foundation stone for its 79th Grid sub station in Jasola, South Delhi. The foundation stone for its latest initiative – a Rs 26 crore Grid sub station, its 79th, was laid, today, by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt Sheila Dikshit. This 66/11 KV Grid Sub Station in Jasola (near Sarita Vihar) will further improve the quality of power and water supply for lakhs of people in South Delhi.

Shri Haroon Yusuf, (Hon’ble Minister for Power, GoNCTD), Shri Asif Mohamad Khan, (Hon’ble MLA), Smt Nitu Singh, (Councillor), and senior BRPL officials led by the CEO Shri Gopal Saxena were also present on the occasion.

BRPL has been augmenting its distribution network to benefit all sections of the society in equal measure. The Grid will immensely benefit important establishments in the Jasola District Centre and the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Pumping station in the area. 1 2013-01-16 West Delhi’s power & water supply to get Rs 30 crore boost Delhi Power Minister lays the foundation stone for BRPL’ 66/11 KV Grid

The foundation stone for the 78th Grid Sub Station in BSES Rajdhani Power Limited’ (BRPL) area was laid by the Hon’ble Minister for Power, Delhi, Shri Haroon Yusuf. To be built at a cost of around Rs 30 crore, this 66/11 KV Grid Sub Station in Najafgargh will substantially improve the power and water supply for nearly 3 lakh people in West Delhi.

Shri Mahabal Mishra, MP (Lok Sabha), MLA, Shri Sumesh Shokeen and Councilors Shri Kishan Pehelwan, Smt Indu Sharma, Shri Satinder Rana and senior BRPL officials led by its CEO Shri Gopal Saxena, were present on the occasion.

Complimenting BRPL for planning to construct the Grid, Delhi’s Power Minister Shri Haroon Yusuf said, "Najafgargh and adjoining areas are witnessing an accelerated level of growth. I am sure setting-up this Grid Sub Station will help power this development".

According to Mr Gopal Saxena, CEO BRPL, "This 66/11 KV – 50 MVA Najafgargh Grid is a symbol of partnership between BRPL and the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). Being part funded by DJB, this 66/11 KV Grid Station will be completed in a record time of 12 months. 1 2012-09-25 MLAs fund installations of REAP in MCD schools for drinking & sanitation purposes MLAs - Mr Veer Singh Dhingan and Mr Vipin Sharma have funded the installation of REAP (Renewable Energy Assisted Pump) systems at four East Delhi schools. The schools in East Delhi with the REAP systems are: Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya (Seemapuri), Raja Ravi Verma Sarvodaya Baal Kanya Vidyalaya (Nandnagri), Govt Senior Secondary School No-1, & School No 2 (Shahdara) BYPL' REAP will help provide clean drinking water and sanitation to thousands of students in Govt schools and enable the schools to be Right to Education (RTE) compliant. Each REAP systems in the schools is fitted with Ultra Violet RO System and help save 3-4 KW of electricity per school on a daily basis. Click Here

1 2011-08-20 BSES participates in Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas

At the behest of the GoNCTD, BSES participated in Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy Management Centre (EE&REM), Department of Environment, Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas celebrations at the Bal Bhawan. Mrs. Sheila Dikshit - Chief Minister, Delhi inaugurated the function along with Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdulla.

School children and Resident Welfare Association members participated in a host of activities & competition during the day long event at Bal Bhawan which also included an exhibition of renewable energy Systems/Devices along with cultural event and a painting/poster competition for school children on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Visitors to the BSES stall were encouraged to give their 'Cool idea' on energy conservation and were also given handy information on power conservation and the discoms initiatives to keep Delhi clean and green amongst which are the annual tree plantation drives and the network of free electric chargeports for vehicles that both discoms provide. 1 2011-04-09 BSES participates in the popular Annual Bhagidari Mela

The Delhi Government organised the annual "Bhagidari Mela" on April 9 and 10 at Pragati Maidan. All the civic agencies, including Delhi power utilities- BSES, NDPL, DTL and IPGCL (active Bhagidari partners), were directed to put-up displays on the theme "Gateway to Green Pavilion". Over 1000 Resident welfare associations (RWA), 14 non-governmental organisations and 45 departments of Delhi government, and school children participated in the two-day annual Bhagidari Mela.

Besides putting-up information panels at the Power Pavilion stall BSES also distributed leaflets amongst the thousand's of Delhi residents, who despite an IPL match in the city thronged the Bhagidari Mela.

Mrs Sheila Dikshit said "The Bhagidari movement has become the largest programme of co-operation between the citizens and government. Through this initiative citizens give their feedback and views, which helps bring desired improvement and implementation in government policies and schemes with their feedback and co-operation." BRPL and BYPL partner with Gramin Utthaan Bharat Nirman and Aashray Adhikar Abhiyan to distribute woolens and blankets in Delhi Cantt and Walled City respectively

On the auspicious occasion of Makarsakranti, senior BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) officials distributed hundreds of articles of clothing among the poor and the under-privileged. BRPL partnered with Gramin Utthaan Bharat Nirman –a NGO working for the under-privileged and the needy, while BYPL partnered with Aashray Adhikar Abhiyan, a NGO that runs night shelters in Delhi.

BRPL function was organized near Kranti Chowk Sadar Bazar, Delhi Cantt, BRPL' senior management accompanied by Mr J P Aggarwal, Hon'ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and officials of 'Gramin Utthaan Bharat Nirman' distributed over 2000 articles of warm clothing and blankets amongst the under privileged and the needy families in the slum-clusters in the area.

In another function, officials from BYPL and Aashray Adhikar Abhiyan, an organisation associated with Action Aid that runs night shelters in the city for the Delhi Government, distributed hundreds of articles of warm clothing and blankets amongst the under privileged living in the Walled City area.

Conceived in December 2008, Project ARPAN envisages motivating employees and their families to donate clothes and woolens for the less fortunate. For the past few years, a one month warm clothes donation drive is undertaken mid December- January at all the BSES offices. Under the aegis of it s safety first drive, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) has re-launched its hugely successful initiative to train neighborhood electricians. Titled Training on Essentials of Internal Wiring & Meters and ECB Installation , the program conducted in South and West Delhi on 22 and 27 December 2010, once again witnessed an overwhelming response. 1 2010-11-30 Delhi CM flags-off BRPL AIDS Awareness Rally On the eve of the World AIDS Day, today, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) organized a students rally to spread awareness about AIDS. The rally was flagged-off by the Hon ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt Sheila Dikshit. Others present on the occasion included, Smt Mamta Kocchar (Director Education, NDMC), senior BRPL officials led by the CEO Shri Gopal Saxena.
Starting from India Gate, the rally comprising over 300 students from N P Co-ed Secondary School, Tilak Marg, marched along the Rajpath to Rashtrapati Bhawan spreading awareness about AIDS, its prevention and its effects. They were carrying placards with slogans like Give HIV+ children a reason to be Life +ve , HIV +ve can still contribute to society , AIDS makes maximum orphans in the world , and Children are the biggest victims of AIDS among others. 2 2010-11-30 BSES discoms win India Power Award 2010 for Overall Utility Performance Urban Areas The spectacular turn-around brought about by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) is increasingly being noticed and lauded. The latest laurel is the prestigious India Power Award 2010 for their significant achievements brought about in the last eight years. Promoted by the Council of Power Utilities, these awards have a distinguished jury and a stringent and exhaustive evaluation criterion, making them the Gold standard in the India Power Sector. In a glittering ceremony at Delhi s India Habitat Centre today, the award was presented to BRPL CEO Mr Gopal Saxena and BYPL CEO Mr Ramesh Narayanan by the legendary Dr V Krishnamurthy (Chairman, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council and former CMD of BHEL, Maruti Udyog Limited and SAIL). The 3rd India Power Award was presented to BSES in the category Overall Utility Performance Urban Areas . BSES won the award amidst stiff competition. Launched in 2008, these awards strive to promote and recognise excellence in the power sector. This is also the second successive time; BSES is winning the India Power Award. Last year, BYPL won the award for Overall Loss Reduction in Urban Segment . While deciding the winners, the jury judged the nominees on four-broad parameters:

(ii) Innovation
(iii) Responsiveness and Impact and
(iv) Scalability and Sustainability.

1 2010-10-30 BRPL reaches out to the Residents In an effort to address the concerns of residents and to clear some popular misconceptions, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) organised two, two-day Bhagidari meets for the RWA s from South and West Delhi. The first of the meets was organised for RWA s from South Delhi on September 3 and 4 and the second meet on October 29 and 30 for RWA s from West Delhi. Over 220 RWA representatives and Vishisht Sahayogis, representing some 160 RWA s, participated in these meets organised at the Delhi Secretariat. Some of the popular misconceptions that the meet helped clear included: Higher bills means higher profit; Rates increase is done by BSES; Capital cost is entirely as per the wish of BSES; BSES can pay whatever salaries they want and All power outages are on account of BSES. During the meet, the participants were also taken through a presentation on Climate Change and educated that how simple everyday measures could get a fix on the issue. 1 2010-09-16 Delhi Chief Minister releases BRPL Citizen Charter Delhi Chief Minister Smt Sheila Dikshit today launched BSES Rajdhani Power Limited s (BRPL) Citizen Charter in a simple ceremony organized at the Delhi Secretariat. Those present on the occasion included Consumer right activist Mr S Krishnan, RWA representatives, Vishisht Sahyogis including former NDMC Chairman Mrs. Vidya B Shah, Mr. Bejon Mihsra, Chairman for Consumer Education & Advocacy Society, BRPL CEO Mr Gopal Saxena, BYPL CEO Mr Ramesh Narayanan and senior discom officials. Lauding this consumer friendly initiative of BRPL, the Chief Minister said, the service standards of BSES discoms have vastly improved during the past 8 years Be it the improved power supply or the reduction in AT & C losses, there has been improvements on all fronts. Today being World Ozone Day, it is important to once again inform Delhiites on the need for saving the environment and using all resources, including electricity judiciously. The Chief Minister also hoped that the Citizen s Charter will help further strengthen the ties between BSES and its consumers and appreciated that besides English, the citizen charter has also been launched in Hindi. 2 2010-09-09 1st Electric vehicle charge port inaugurated in South Delhi In a simple ceremony today, the first electric vehicle charge port was inaugurated today at BSES Rajdhani Power Limited s (BRPL) office in R K Puram in South Delhi. Inaugurating the e-charge port, Mrs Barkha Singh MLA and Chairperson, Delhi Commission of Women said, I am happy to note that the corporate sector is promoting the green cause. Sustained efforts like these will go a long way in popularising the use of zero emission electric vehicles in the city. This will also help make the ambient quality of air better Delhi is a model city for adopting electric transportation; be it 138 kms of Delhi Metro, highest number of electric two and four wheeler users and now e-rickshaws plying on city roads. Adoption of electric vehicles is being made possible in Delhi due to a world-class power supply. Delhi enjoys per capita power consumption of 1615 units more than double the national average. As a discom, BSES is setting a trend globally by offering free charge ports for electric vehicles. 1 2010-01-23 Delhi Chief Minister inaugurates BRPL 66/11 KV Dwarka Grid Substation Keeping pace with Delhi s development in wake of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, BRPL has been continuously sprucing up its distribution infrastructure. In a simple but an impressive ceremony today, the company s newest Grid Sub Station its 4th in Dwarka and 71st in its licensed area spanning 750 sq Kms - was inaugurated by the Hon ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt Sheila Dikshit. Others present on the occasion included Shri Mahabal Mishra (MP, Lok Sabha), Shri Somesh Shokeen (MLA), Smt Ganapati Galhot (Councillor), Shri Rajendra Kumar (Principal Secretary, Power, GoNCTD) senior Government and BRPL and BYPL officials led by CEO Shri Gopal Saxena and Shri Ramesh Narayanan. This next generation and state of the art 66/11 KV Grid Substation, has been constructed at a total cost of over Rs 14 crore, keeping in mind the present and future requirement of this fast developing sub city. 1 2009-03-13 The Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Mr Anurag Goel conferred upon BRPL the 6th National Award for Excellence in Cost Management - 2008 instituted by Institute of Cost and Works Accounts of India (ICWAI), at a glittering function at Vigyan Bhawan. BRPL won the first prize in "Private - Service Sector - Large" category. This prestigious recognition by ICWAI was won by BRPL amidst stiff competition in the form of 7 different categories and more than 80 leading corporates vying for top honours. Mr Amal Sinha, Chief Financial Officer-BSES, and Mr Amarjeet Singh, Senior Manager Finance accepted the award on behalf of the company. BRPL was chosen for the top honour by an eminent Jury headed by Mr J S Verma, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India, other jury members represented government, regulatory bodies, industry, chambers of commerce, academia and management experts.

1 2009-02-19 The second edition of BSES` grueling Bijli Gyan Abhiyan initiative for schools in South and West Delhi culminated on February 19, 2009 at award ceremony held at the Delhi Secretariat. Amidst loud cheers and applause from fellow students, teachers and parents, Smt Sheila Dikshit, the Hon`ble Chief Minister of Delhi gave away prizes to the six winners. 1 2009-01-17 Gearing up for the Commonwealth Games, Delhi Chief Minister lays the foundation stone for BSES` Rs 40 crore `Akshardham`- 66/11 kV `Akshardham Grid`. Shri Lalit Jalan, Chairman, BSES, welcomed the Chief Minister - Smt Shiela Dikshit, Dr A K Walia, Hon`ble Minister for Finance and Urban Development, Delhi, Shri Sandeep Dikshit, Hon`ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Shri Rajendra Kumar, Power Secretary, GoNCTD, senior Government and important Resident Welfare Association members to the foundation stone laying ceremony.
