BRPL wins coveted ICC awards BRPL has received two-coveted awards instituted by the ICC. It has been ranked 1st in the category "Green Energy Award" for promoting green & clean energy & ranked 2nd in overall innovation with impact in overall performance. The awards were received by BRPL CEO Amal Sinha. These awards were given as part of the 7th Innovation with Impact Awards for Discoms 2019 during the 13th India Energy Summit, organised by the Indian Chambers of Commerce. There were a total of 31 discoms, of which 9 were private. The winners were selected by an eminent jury, which included industry heavy weights . |

BRPL & Oracle Utilities organise the 2nd Behavioural Energy Efficiency Pilot Stakeholder Workshop BRPL & Oracle Utilities organised the 2nd stakeholder workshop on November 11, 2019, to discuss the findings of Behavioural Energy Efficiency pilot. It was addressed by the DERC Chairman Hon’ble Justice S S Chauhan & eminent speakers from USTDA, Oracle Utilities & BSES. BRPL CEO Mr Amal Sinha also addressed the gathering. A panel discussed was also organised to discuss the derived outcomes & relevance of behavioural demand side management and national smart grid mission by eminent speakers from BRPL, USTDA, TERI, Prayas Energy Group, Shakti Foundation, AEEE, Institute for Sustainable Communities & Idam Infra Advisory Ltd. Covering 2 lakh consumers in South and West Delhi, this is the 1st large-scale BEE pilot project in India. Being carried under the US $ 1 million grant from USTDA, it is helping the participants reduce their monthly electricity bills. |

BRPL to install a Water ATM in Shakur Basti in West Delhi In partnership with the Delhi Jal Board, BRPL is installing a water ATM in West Delhi. An MoU has been signed by Mr. Amal Sinha, CEO, BRPL & DJB CEO, Mr. Nikhil Kumar, IAS. Senior DJB officials Mr. Shalabh Kumar & Mr. Mukesh Kumar, IAS, were also present. To be launched soon, the water ATM will provide 1500 households, 20 litres of purified drinking water daily. |

It was signed in the presence of Colorado governor Mr Jared Polis on Nov 4. This has been made possible through joint efforts of the two utilities & facilitated by CSIS and US India Business Council. |

BRPL partners Norway’s Kongsberg Digital BRPL & Kongsberg Digital, a Norwegian company, have entered into an agreement for smart grid collaboration. It will explore digital solutions to further optimise the discom’s grid operations. Besides a well-known neuro linguistic programming (NLP) expert, the gathering was addressed by Olympian Karnam Malesawari, who as most of you may know, is the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Olympics. A Padma Shri and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee, she did India proud in weight lighting. |

Delhi’s Power Minister Inaugurates Digi Seva Kendra@Paschim Vihar Delhi’s Hon’ble Power Minister Shri Satyendar Jain inaugurated BRPL’ Digi Seva Kendra (DSK) at Paschim Vihar over the weekend. The honours were done in the presence of the Hon’ble MLAs Shri Raghuvinder Shokeen, Shri Girish Soni, Shri Sukhbir Singh Dalal, Shri Shiv Charan Goel and BRPL officials led by the CEO Shri Amal Sinha. Modelled on the lines of Passport Seva Kendras, these DSK’s offer quick, convenient and hassle-free single window digital services to consumers. The DSK at Paschim Vihar will cater to over five lakh consumers across Punjabi Bagh, Nangloi and Mundka. |

Project report of Energy Wise, Energy Rise’ program released The 1st phase of Energy Wise, Energy Rise’ program (EWER), a unique environmental education program, run by BRPL in partnership with TERI concluded and the project report released recently by Mr Manish Sisodia (Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Delhi). Best performing schools were also felicitated. In the 1st phase, EWER program covered 30000 students in 100 govt schools in South and West Delhi. They were sensitised through an especially created booklet and comprehensive energy-awareness workshops. |

BRPL-EESL Join Hands to Launch ‘Energy Efficient Appliance Program’ With an objective to promote energy efficient technologies and appliances, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) have entered into a strategic partnership to launch a 12-month pilot - ‘Energy Efficient Appliance Program’. A first of its kind program in India, it will cover over 25 lakh residential and institutional consumers in South and West Delhi. Through this program, BRPL consumers would be able to procure several optimally priced energy efficient appliances, including the super efficient air conditioners. |

BSES Solar City Initiative: Dwarka CGHS Energises a 100 KW Roof-Top Solar Plant As part of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited’ ambitious 'Solar City Initiative - Solarise Dwarka’, the first 100 KW grid-connected rooftop solar plant was inaugurated at the Shiv Bhole Cooperative Group Housing Society in Dwarka. By doing so, the residential society has set an example not only for the roughly 250 housing societies in this sub-city, but also for the entire national capital. The plant was inaugurated by Dr Wolfram Klein – Head of Division India; South Asia German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Developmen in presence of Mr. Amal Sinha, CEO-BRPL. Dr Klein is visiting India on the occasion of annual Indo-German bilateral consultations. Others present on the occasion included Ms Susanne Dorasil (Head of Economic Cooperation and Development, German Embassy, New Delhi), senior officials from BMZ, GIZ and residents from the CGHS. |

BSES and TERI partner to educate 90,000 students BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) have joined hands to launch an innovative educational program on energy conservation.BSES and TERI partner to educate 90,000 students Aimed at young minds and titled, ‘Energy Wise Energy Rise’, the program will educate, train and reach out to around 90,000 students in government schools. A three year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the two organisations to the effect. |

It will enable BRPL to introduce newer offerings for its BRPL & EESL partner to work in the areas of EV charging stations, rooftop solar and smart meters consumers like setting-up of E Vehicle charging infrastructure, solar irrigation pump, roof top solar and smart meters. BRPL partners EESL to distribute LEDs in rural areas BRPL and EESL have partnered to distribute LED bulbs in the rural areas of South and West Delhi as part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan initiative. The campaign was flagged off by the BRPL CEO Mr Sinha today from BRPL partners EESL to distribute LEDs in rural areas discom’s Nehru Place office. Under the limited period scheme, LED bulbs will be made available till May 5, 2018, at a special price of Rs 50 in the rural areas and villages. |

In continuation of this commitment,BSES discoms ink agreement to procure 200 MW of wind power BRPL has signed a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) with SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India) to procure 150 MW of wind power. The power is expected be available to BSES discoms in about 18 months from now - from the third week of November, 2019, for a period of 25 years. |

Recognising these efforts, US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has signed a grant ($ 1,021, 896) supporting BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) to develop and deploy India’s first Behavioural Energy Efficiency (BEE) program. To be built at a cost of around Rs 30 crore, this 66/11 KV Grid Sub Station in Najafgargh will substantially improve the power and water supply for nearly 3 lakh people in West Delhi. BSES participates in Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas At the behest of the GoNCTD, BSES participated in Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy Management Centre (EE&REM), Department of Environment, Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas celebrations at the Bal Bhawan. Mrs. Sheila Dikshit - Chief Minister, Delhi inaugurated the function along with Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdulla. School children and Resident Welfare Association members participated in a host of activities & competition during the day long event at Bal Bhawan which also included an exhibition of renewable energy Systems/Devices along with cultural event and a painting/poster competition for school children on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Visitors to the BSES stall were encouraged to give their 'Cool idea' on energy conservation and were also given handy information on power conservation and the discoms initiatives to keep Delhi clean and green amongst which are the annual tree plantation drives and the network of free electric chargeports for vehicles that both discoms provide. |

BSES participates in the popular Annual Bhagidari Mela The Delhi Government organised the annual "Bhagidari Mela" on April 9 and 10 at Pragati Maidan. All the civic agencies, including Delhi power utilities- BSES, NDPL, DTL and IPGCL (active Bhagidari partners), were directed to put-up displays on the theme "Gateway to Green Pavilion". Over 1000 Resident welfare associations (RWA), 14 non-governmental organisations and 45 departments of Delhi government, and school children participated in the two-day annual Bhagidari Mela. Besides putting-up information panels at the Power Pavilion stall BSES also distributed leaflets amongst the thousand's of Delhi residents, who despite an IPL match in the city thronged the Bhagidari Mela. Delhi CM flags-off BRPL AIDS Awareness Rally On the eve of the World AIDS Day, today, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) organized a students rally to spread awareness about AIDS. The rally was flagged-off by the Hon ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt Sheila Dikshit. BSES discoms win India Power Award 2010 for Overall Utility Performance Urban Areas The spectacular turn-around brought about by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) is increasingly being noticed and lauded. The latest laurel is the prestigious India Power Award 2010 for their significant achievements brought about in the last eight years. Promoted by the Council of Power Utilities, these awards have a distinguished jury and a stringent and exhaustive evaluation criterion, making them the Gold standard in the India Power Sector. In a glittering ceremony at Delhi s India Habitat Centre today, the award was presented to BRPL CEO Mr Gopal Saxena and BYPL CEO Mr Ramesh Narayanan by the legendary Dr V Krishnamurthy (Chairman, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council and former CMD of BHEL, Maruti Udyog Limited and SAIL). The 3rd India Power Award was presented to BSES in the category Overall Utility Performance Urban Areas . BSES won the award amidst stiff competition. Launched in 2008, these awards strive to promote and recognise excellence in the power sector. This is also the second successive time; BSES is winning the India Power Award. Last year, BYPL won the award for Overall Loss Reduction in Urban Segment . While deciding the winners, the jury judged the nominees on four-broad parameters: (i) Performance (ii) Innovation (iii) Responsiveness and Impact and (iv) Scalability and Sustainability. The first of the meets was organised for RWA s from South Delhi on September 3 and 4 and the second meet on October 29 and 30 for RWA s from West Delhi. Over 220 RWA representatives and Vishisht Sahayogis, representing some 160 RWA s, participated in these meets organised at the Delhi Secretariat. Some of the popular misconceptions that the meet helped clear included: Higher bills means higher profit; Rates increase is done by BSES; Capital cost is entirely as per the wish of BSES; BSES can pay whatever salaries they want and All power outages are on account of BSES. During the meet, the participants were also taken through a presentation on Climate Change and educated that how simple everyday measures could get a fix on the issue.
